As I sit in the Phoenix airport waiting to board my first flight of the journey to Glasgow, it still hasn’t hit me that I’m going to Scotland! I am honored to have the opportunity to represent the greatest track and field team in the world. I am excited to meet the other athletes, explore Glasgow, and wear a USA singlet for the first time in my life. However, first and foremost, I am traveling to Glasgow for a business trip – to place as high as I can and score as many points as possible for Team USA. A secondary goal, PR and qualify for the US Indoor Championships.
I haven’t been told yet who I’m competing against. To be honest, I’m not really worrying about who specifically is in the race – I probably wouldn’t know their racing styles anyway. Either tactical or fast, I think I’m ready to race no matter what happens. I am quicker, stronger, and lighter than ever before. Also, I have surpassed my longest consistent training block since high school. My plan is to run with the pack and kick hard at the end. No limitations, no particular paces, just racing.

Congrats! Safe travels and good luck in Scotland! I hope the flight is pleasantly uneventful!
