It never ceases to amaze me how much I struggle in recreational fitness classes. I continuously walk in the gym egotistical, gloating about my (clearly) superior fitness since I crushed the morning run, yet quickly get reality checked when I’m already breathing heavy halfway through the warm-up. I look around the room – other people are feeling my pain, right? Nope. Long, lean, blonde bombshells are prancing around in their Lululemon capris. All logic is lost.
Yet, is it? Our bodies are adaptable machines that do what we train them for. These chicks have been training for fitness classes, I’ve been training to run in circles slightly above threshold. Fitness isn’t as general as it may seem. Specificity is necessary. So, what’s the plan Stan? I’m going to share it with you. I’ll be keeping my athleticore page up to date with all my training – the runs, doctors appointments, massages, strength work, etc. I do not recommend blindly copying; proceed with caution.
